The Dementia cafe service is run by Pathways 4 Life a partnership between Accord Group and Walsall Age UK. The service is funded by Walsall Joint clinical commissioning group and Walsall Council.
Provided to support people within an informal, friendly and relaxed environment. The Dementia cafe will include free refreshments, opportunities for peer support/ discussion and a social activity. Information around other services and support will be shared and promoted with guest speakers sharing more insight to their service provision.
Our Cafes are hosted each month for two hours at a time, covering a range of days and times including evenings. Dedicated dementia cafe coordinators are available at each venue. Information about local services and signposting to other organisations which can give help and advise, is also available.
The service is provided borough wide holding cafes within 7 areas including Aldridge, Pelsall, Brownhills, Bloxwich, Walsall town centre, Willenhall and Pleck.
Alongside these 7 cafes provided locally within the community, we hold a weekly Dementia café at Walsall Manor Hospital, this will give people with dementia whom are currently patients within the hospital, and their carers, an opportunity to access support, participate in activities which will enhance their recovery in a more person centred way. It will also allow carers to provide more timely feedback to staff on care delivery with the hospital
