Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA).

Free and Confidential Service is available to patients who are:

Detained under the Mental Health Act (Normally in Hospital)

Subject to Guardianship

Subject to a Community Treatment Order (CTO)

A conditionally discharge restricted patient

 

IMHA Advocates support patients by providing information about:

The parts of the Act the apply to them

Their rights

The rights of other people in relation to them

The conditions of restrictions to which they are subject

Any medical treatment they are receiving or might be given and any relevant safeguards

Support to self advocate or representing them at review meeting or hospital managers' hearings or by helping them to make applications to a Tribunal.
