We are the Walsall Group of Ramblers (formerly The Ramblers' Association), Britain's walking charity with groups throughout England, Scotland and Wales. We promote access to the outdoors on foot and campaign for the maintenance and improvement of Britain's network of footpaths and bridleways.
In normal times we organise a programme of walks led by members of the group, on Saturdays usually of 4-5 miles within 30 minutes drive of Walsall, finishing about lunch time, and on Sundays alternating between 6-8 miles and 8-10 miles (up to 12 miles in summer), which last into the afternoon and usually involve more travel. In summer there are also occasional midweek and evening walks. The routes are checked beforehand. There is no charge for the walks apart from the membership fee (see below) but we organise a car-sharing scheme and recommend a payment from passengers to the driver of £2 for the short walks and £5 for the longer walks.
The group also has a path maintenance team which works on path maintenance and improvement mostly within Walsall Borough. This meets on a weekday. The group also organises occasional litter picks.
The group also has monthly social activities.
Click here for details of membership charges. This will open in a new window. Joint membership covers two adults living at the same address. Under-18s are not able to join but are welcome on walks with a parent or guardian. Prospective members are allowed three trial walks before deciding whether to join. Members are entitled to join any Ramblers walk anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales.
Unfortunately all activities are currently suspended due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
